GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Western Cape Speaker Masizole Mnqasela, in collaboration with Youth4Life SA and Samaritan’s Feet SA, has been distributing pairs of school shoes to learners in need in the Garden Route and Central Karoo districts as part of the Shoes of Hope programme.
He stopped in Knysna on Wednesday 11 November, donating 40 pairs of school shoes to learners at Sunridge Primary School.
The Shoes of Hope initiative is about more than just providing shoes to those who need them most.
The aim is to connect with the children and give them hope – which is why those distributing the shoes wash each child’s feet before putting the shoes on.
Speaking at the handover at Sunridge, Mnqasela said; "We are planting a seed now. We are saying to these kids you must dream, and it is okay to have hope. That's why these shoes are not just shoes, we are giving hope to these children. We want them to dream big, very big."
