SEDGEFIELD NEWSFLASH - The municipality is aware of the concerns relating to housing in Sedgefield and has subsequently engaged with a group of residents in this regard.
Following the engagements the group has agreed not to build on the land in Sedgefield and they are currently clearing the area.
A meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday with the relevent officials and the community members.
Our Law Enforcement Officers are monitoring the situation. SAPS has been alerted and is on standby.
Knysna-Plett Herald journalist Stefan Goosen reports that he spoke to Elsperth Hartzenberg of the Lank-gewag Committee in Smutsville on 9 June.
Hartzenberg said that about 110 plots had already been marked out by community members.
"Our name, Lank-gewag, says exactly what has happened here. We have waited too long for houses," she said.
The community will expect their answers on Wednesday 13 June.
