PLETTENBEG BAY NEWS – The Paul Harris Rotary award certificate and pin are finally in the possession of Otto Olivier, the latest recipient.
Olivier was in hospital undergoing a double knee replacement operation when the initial award was made to him by the Plettenberg Bay Rotary Club and could not receive it in person.
At the time, the official pin and certifi-cate had not yet arrived from Rotary headquarters in Illinois, USA – so after they were received, a special ceremony was arranged to hand them over to Olivier on Tuesday 26 August.
Service above self
The citation reads that Olivier followed to the letter the Rotary International principles of service above self.
Olivier, head of operations at the Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA), has a dream of making Plett the safest place to live in.
Tricia Wylde, Plettenberg Bay Rotary Club president, said the club was honoured to have a Paul Harris Fellow of Olivier's calibre. "He ensures that we in Plettenberg Bay can live safely in our beautiful town," said Wilde.
