KNYSNA NEWS - Residents of Knysna will soon have one less form of mail to worry about in their mailbox every month. Knysna Municipality will, from July onwards, only be issuing municipal accounts electronically.
"From July we will be issuing monthly accounts only via email and SMS," Municipal Manager Ombali Sebola stated.
"Although we will be sending accounts out electronically, the onus is with the accountholder to check and inform themselves of their monthly municipal account."
The announcement was made by the municipality last week, in which they indicated that the change in delivery format is due to the time taken for post to be delivered in its traditional format. "We are experiencing increasing difficulties and delays with the delivery of traditional postal communication," explained Sebola.
They also urged residents to update their contact details on the municipality's website, indicating that the most important detail will be an accurate and up-to-date email address. "Once you have updated your email address, check your inbox regularly for information and various updates regarding service delivery," said Sebola.
In the contact information form, which can be found online, residents will need to provide information such as their account number, erf number, street address, email address and contact numbers.
"Communicating electronically is more reliable and efficient than the alternative," Sebola stated.
"And cutting down on producing more unnecessary printed material is in line with our efforts to conserve and preserve our beautiful, yet sensitive, natural area."
To ensure that the municipality has your correct electronic contact information, you need to download the contact information form from the municipality's website, complete it with your details, sign it and return it to accounts@knysna.gov.za.
