BUSINESS NEWS - The Market Square along Beacon Way has been transformed into an international-class retail attraction. "Already a beloved destination for locals and visitors, the centre has undergone a significant upgrade to create an even better shopping, casual dining and lifestyle experience," said Dirk Nel, landlord representative.
The eight-month revamp has transformed the centre into a fresh, re-imagined and re-energised retail experience.
At the official opening on 27 November, Nel thanked everybody who was involved in the refurbishment and construction. "It's been an exciting process, which will not only benefit the community, but each and every Plett consumer."
After the R155m refurbishment, the open-air strip mall now offers a modern, easy-to-navigate environment with a redesigned ring road that provides smoother traffic and 20% more parking: a new upper level rear parking area with direct access to the banking court, additional dedicated tenant parking, and basement parking below Dis-Chem with an entrance next to KFC.
Anchored by the newly modernised PnP and Woolworths and home to many diverse stores, The Market Square offers everything from fashion, beauty, homeware, books and outdoor gear to cafés, boutiques and essential services.
New top-class tenants will enhance the shopping experience - Dis-Chem, McDonald's, a banking court with Standard Bank and Nedbank; TyreMart, Pet Storey, a joint venture with Horse & Hound; Vodacom Chatz Connect, and The Local, a coffee shop offering simple, satisfying eats.
To underscore its commitment to the Plett community, The Market Square is not using Christmas decorations this year, but instead handed over cheques to four Plett charities at the opening event. The charities that benefited were Paws, People of Love, the Not Yet Uhuru Foundation and the New Horizons Pensioner's Club.
