KNYSNA NEWS - Emergency maintenance will still go ahead on Knysna's Main Intake Substation today, 1 June, and will see electricity off in the affected areas until 16:30 this afternoon.
The work on the Main Intake Substation is still being done despite the fact that work on the Eastford Substation has been postponed until tomorrow, Friday 2 June.
According to Knysna Municipality's communications team, this emergency maintenance is being done due to the manner in which load-shedding has negatively affected the town's electrical infrastructure.
"This is necessary to mitigate the risk at these substations due to the impact of continuous load-shedding," the communications team said.
The areas that are to be affected today are:
• Bongani
• Concordia
• Joodsekamp
• Qolweni
• White Location
• Knysna CBD
• A section of Paradise
• Knysna Heights
• Thesen Island
• Leisure Isle
• Lower Industrial
• Rexford
• Hunters Home
• Pezula
• Sparrebosch
• Fernwood
• Vigilance Drive
"Contingency measures will be in place to increase water production to ensure that reservoirs are at their maximum levels," the municipal communications team said.
Water trucks will be ready if the reservoirs run out of water. Teams will also be dispatched to monitor sewer pump stations and manholes to ensure that no spillages occur."
