Update
KNYSNA NEWSFLASH - Philip Bunge has abandoned his application for leave to appeal a five year sentence in jail after being convicted on a charge of culpable homicide earlier this year – and as a result will serve the sentence in Knysna prison as of today, 25 June.
Bunge – who was convicted on a charge of culpable homicide earlier this year for the death of Cape Town student Jared Lomas during the Oyster Festival in 2015 – initially intended to appeal the sentence when he appeared in court last week, but today informed the court through his lawyer that he wishes to abandon the application.
Family members greeted him at court before he was whisked away to the court cells by police officers.
