"We also felt it was necessary to take our corporate responsibility for social involvement extremely seriously.
We are made up of six branches being George, Knysna, Oudtshoorn, Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay and Riversdal.
Theobald explains that the distance between branches makes it very challenging to act as a hands-on team in supporting charity.
"In spite of this, Nedbank has a fantastic team spirit and we decided we would collectively raise funds which we would in turn be able to distribute between needy charities in each of the towns where we are represented," says Theobald.
She says Nedbank’s fund-raising events give them the opportunity to live the values which they strive to embody at Nedbank.
The Nedbank team raised R160 000 in 2010. "This means that we will be able to donate an amount of R16 000 to each of our charities which we nominated for last year," says Theobald.
In Knysna Nedbank nominated that the Dorothy Broster Children’s Home and Options benefit from the money raised, and in Plettenberg Bay Child Welfare SA and Sabrina Love Foundation will receive donations.
The nominations for this year are still being finalised but there 12 charity organisations throughout the Garden Route will be identified. Nedbank Business Bank would like to thank the Garden Route communities for their wonderful support of the fund-raising events and Nedbank looks forward to their ongoing support.
