PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay police have called on the public to assist them in closing the chapter in two unsolved murders.
Local police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse said police are still trying to solve the murder of Restonay Bernades (22), whose body was found in a footpath near the N2 in New Horizons on Women's Day last year.
The mother of a one-year-old child was identified by her father, a Qolweni resident, and a postmortem revealed that Barnades had been raped and the cause of death was strangulation.
"Anyone who has possible information or leads regarding this incident is requested to contact the investigation officer. All information will be dealt with in a confidential manner," Pieterse said.
The investigating officer in the matter is detective Sergeant Gilbert Bulawa and he can be reached on 044 501 1963 or 083 284 9359.
Pieterse said officers also need assistance from the public in tracing the suspect in a matter involving the murder of Brian Masiza.
"The murder occurred in December last year. The body of the victim was found in the bushes next to the footpath between Pine Trees and Qolweni Plettenberg Bay."
Anyone with any information can contact investigating officer detective Constable Nosiviwe Kova on 044 501 1937/071 984 8687.
