KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna municipality has, for the first time since late last year, released the following water statistics.
Knysna: 4 to 6 May
- Akkerkloof Dam – 40% full;
- Glebe Dam – 20% full
- Knysna River – low flow (50mm over the weir), pumping 97 litres per second
- Gouna River – low flow (50 mm over the weir), pumping 28.98 litres per second
- Reverse osmosis plant – operational
- Sedgefield: 4 – 6 May 2018
- Karatara River – normal flow
- Sedgefield desalination plant – operational
Level 3 water restrictions apply, and include:
- Municipal potable water for human consumption only.
- Absolutely no watering of gardens (not even with bucket) or washing of vehicles and/or boats.
- Heavy fines will be issued to transgressors.
- All residents and businesses to restrict their usage to 20kl/month.
- Water recycling systems to be implemented.
- Artificial water features must use recycled water only.
- All residents are requested to install water-efficient devices.
