A number of the matriculants said that they were happy with their school's pass rate and with their own individual achievements. Knysna High School achieved an overall pass rate of 99%.
A total of 83 out of 84 learners passed their final 2011 examinations. The school is extremely proud of its four top achievers, Stef-Mari Barnard (seven distinctions), Cameron Carden Taylor (five distinctions), Jason Cupido (five distinctions), and Mirischian Naude (four distinctions). Stef-Mari Barnard's advice: "Enjoy life and when in doubt, smile."
Barnard will be pursuing a career in medicine at the University of the Free State. She said, "Hard work pays off in the end, especially if you are keen to make a change in the future."
An excited Taylor said that he was ready to further his studies. He will be studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. Taylor’s motto in life is: "Balance is important."
Jason Cupido explained, "I worked hard, with the determination to succeed. My parents and teachers have been very supportive throughout my schooling career and especially during my final year - this contributed to my success." He further said, "Hard work is key to success and it doesn’t begin before your final matric exams; it starts as soon as you begin your schooling career." Cupido will be studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch. A group of friends and former learners at Knysna High School said that they were going to miss the school very much. They would like to thank all the teachers for their hard work, assistance and dedication.
Knysna High School’s principal, Mike Lourens, would like to congratulate all the matriculants on their achievements. "We are very proud of all our matriculants. The results are very good, and it is all because of their efforts and hard work throughout last year. May they continue to build what they have learnt at Knysna High School, not only professionally, but also in their unique personalities as well as relationships. Wishing them all prosperity and strength for the future ahead," concluded Lourens. He would like to thank the parents and staff of Knysna High School for their continued support and hard work.
