PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – The Patriotic Alliance has a new councillor in the Bitou Council - Heinright Mitchell, who was sworn in on 16 March at a special council meeting as the party's proportional representative councillor.
Mitchell, 31, who was born in Bitou and is a resident, replaces Tiphany Harmse who was sworn in as a councillor on 24 October last year and who hand-picked her successor.
Harmse succeeded Michele Botha who resigned from the Bitou council to join Knysna Municipality. After her appointment to the municipality was reversed, she was appointed as Western Cape provincial treasurer for the PA.
Eugene Botha, national head of legal affairs of the PA, said, "Hein has a clear mandate to fight for the development of all communities in Bitou, and we have no doubt that he will serve you with dedication and honesty."
Botha thanked Harmse for her dedication and hard work.
"We wish Tiphany all the best in her future endeavours as she works to secure enough seats for the Patriotic Alliance so that she can become the premier of the Eastern Cape and bring that province up to its full potential."
