KNYSNA NEWS - The gruesome discovery of a child's leg in Joodsekamp, White Location in Knysna last week led the search party that was launched to scour the surrounding bushes, to the decomposed body of a child on Saturday 26 October.
This comes after the leg was found at a yard in the area, believed to have been dragged there from the bushes by a dog late on Friday.
The first search on Friday was later called off due to poor visibility. The owner of the property where the child's body part was found, Amanda Ndlanga, said she remains tormented by the image stuck in her mind, and that she is even more worried about her 10-year-old son who saw it too, but that she would seek help for him.
On Saturday, the police's K9 dog unit and Section 4 community forum Mayitshe members navigated their way through the bushes searching the rest of the body.
Amid widespread speculation that the body might belong to that of Oyisa Mgqwanci (11) who was reported as missing in the area three weeks ago and has still not been found despite an ongoing search for her, Knysna police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies indicated that the body has not yet been identified and that DNA samples will be used to do so.
