PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Well done to all our Grade 12 students who wrote the Cambridge AS level exams.
Fourteen students wrote the exam in 2018, of which 11 received university exemptions and the school received 21 A-results.
We also had two students who wrote their A levels – an extremely tough set of exams, and definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Our top three learners were Lifa Sethosa, Hendrik Booysen and Aaliyah Omar.
Lifa Sethosa (our top AS achiever) wrote five subjects and received five A’s, also achieving an amazing 98% for mathematics. Lifa was our head student, dux pupil and also an avid runner. He will be going to study actuarial science at UCT this year. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this name – there is no doubt it’s not the last time we will be hearing about Lifa.
Henre Booysen wrote four AS level subjects and three more at A level. He received six A’s and one B. Hendrik achieved this all in one year, all the while staying more than 1 000km from his home base in Gauteng, looking after himself, and also competing in hockey and athletics at district level.
Hendrik is a positive, dedicated student and an aspiring leader. We know he will make a success of anything he applies himself to. He is off to study aeronautical engineering overseas.

Aaliyah Omar wrote five subjects and got four A’s. She also achieved 98% in mathematics. She will be taking a year off to explore Islamic studies and will then study engineering after that. Aaliyah is a polite and kind young lady, who is able to hold her own on the soccer field. We really enjoyed having her at GBC, and wish her well with her studies and future.

Congratulations to Miriam Hubner, who wrote three A levels as well. She also managed to get two A’s and a B – not an easy task. Well done Miriam!
Well done once again to all our Grade 12s. You were an amazing class, and will be missed!
Good luck for the next step in your lives.
