KNYSNA NEWS - PROPERTY-RELATED INCIDENTS:
TOWN AREA
BURGLARY - BOND ST (Thurs 19 July @ 01h19) – Officers responded to alarm signal and found padlock on container missing. Keyholder was notified and confirmed the break-in. Petty cash tin was reported missing.
BURGLARY - HILL ST (Thurs 19 July @ 13h05) – Resident reported that home was broken into some time during the morning. A laptop and makeup bag were stolen. SAPS were informed and a case was opened.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - VOORTREKKER ST (Thurs 19 July @ 16h06) - Resident reported that 3 people were on a burnt out property trying to steal scraps. SAPS and keyholder were notified. Keyholder declined to open a case and the 3 were released.
THEFT - GRAY ST (Fri 20 July @ 15h00) - Motorist reported a suspicious person pushing a wheelie bin up the road and into bushes. Officer responded and the man dropped the wheelie bin and fled. Wheelie bin was recovered but owner not identified.
BURGLARY - HILL ST (Fri 20 July @ 15h58) - Client reported a break-in at outside cottage. Incident could have happened in preceding months. Window and burglar bars were forced, a microwave oven was pulled through the window. SAPS were notified.
ATTEMPTED THEFT OUT M.V. - MOUNT JOY (Sat 21 July @ 01h50) - Resident reported someone tried to break into his vehicle and provided a clothing description. Area was searched but suspect was not found. Nothing stolen.
SHOPLIFTING - MAIN ROAD (Sat 21 July @ 13h00) - Allsound Guards reported that a 14-year-old was apprehended for shoplifting. SAPS were notified and further dealt with the juvenile.
BURGLARY - QUEEN ST (Tues 24 July @ 08h43) - Control Room received a phone call to report break-in in progress. Officers responded and apprehended a suspect inside the building. Keyholder declined to open a case as nothing was stolen. Suspect was released.
THEFT - METCALF ST (Tues 24 July @ 09h29) - Resident telephone to report that her car cover was stolen sometime during the night. No further information available. No case was opened.
THEFT OUT M.V. - QUEEN ST (Wed 25 July @ 08h26) - Motorist telephoned to report that vehicle was broken into during the night. No forced entry was found but vehicle had been ransacked inside. Nothing missing and no case was opened.
THEFT - GORDON ST (Wed 25 July @ 17h17) - Allsound Control room received a call to report that an unknown male entered business premises and stolen a laptop and wallet while the staff were busy in back office. A description of the suspect was circulated. Suspect was not found.
POSSESSION OF STOLEN GOODS - NELSON ST (Wed 25 July @ 17h30) - Allsound received report of suspicious vehicle parked at the Mall. Officers observed the vehicle and 4 occupants. The vehicle was stopped on suspicion of containing stolen items. 15 cellphones were found in the vehicle and the occupants were linked to a string of thefts. All 4 suspects were detained by SAPS.
KNYSNA HEIGHTS / PARADISE
BURGLARY / THEFT OUT M.V. - RIDGE DR (Thurs 19 July @ 07h54) - Client telephoned to report that their vehicle and shed had been broken into some time during the night. Power tools were reported missing. Case was opened.
OLD PLACE / COSTA SARDA
BURGLARY - SUNVALLEY DR (Fri 20 July @ 15h06) - Client pressed the panic button after arriving home and discovering a break-in. Incident happened between 07h00 to 15h00. No forced entry found. Owner confirmed that a laptop and 2 hard drives were missing. Case was opened.
INDUSTRIAL AREA / HORNLEE / NEKKIES
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY - JONKER ST (Thurs 19 July @ 09h30) – Client reported an attempted break-in at the property after find corrugated sheets pulled loose from building. No access was gained and nothing reported missing.
BURGLARY - NEKKIES (Sun 22 July @ 00h57) - Officers responded to alarm signal and confirmed break-in at the premises. Keyholder was notified and reported that a bicycle was missing. Case was opened.
THEFT - SANDPIPER ST (Sun 22 July @ 19h38) - Allsound Officer spotted a known suspect carrying something under his arm. Officer questioned the man and found him with a large grey shade cloth. Properties were checked and owner could not be identified. No case was opened.
ATTEMPTED THEFT - FECHTER ST (Mon 23 July @ 01h00) - Officer responded to beam alarm. Upon arrival a suspect dropped 2 truck batteries and fled. Suspect was not apprehended but stolen goods were recovered. No case was opened.
