Hendrickse had tendered his resignation on February 9 following health complications.
Prior to this special meeting, the Knysna Tourism CEO Greg Vogt approached Hendrickse and asked him to reconsider his resignation. Hendrickse agreed after his physician had assessed his health. During the special meeting, the board decided that interim chairperson, Kathy White will continue to act as chairperson.
It was decided that, until such time that Hendrickse could personally attend board meetings, White will keep him abreast of matters.
“I reiterate what I said in a previous media statement, Philip contributed positively, in line with the strategy of Knysna Tourism and is a strong leader on board level with regard to processes and corporate governance. It is exciting to welcome him back and I look forward to working with him in the near future to ensure continuity of the Knysna brand,” said Vogt.
Following the reinstatement of Hendrickse and the confirmation of White as interim chair, the board voted for the one remaining vacant seat. All nominees for this seat had previously been nominated for election at the Knysna Tourism AGM on August 26 last year.
