KNYSAN NEWS - A family from Knysna who lost all their possessions in the fires can smile again after a furniture retailer in Knysna assisted them, and truly made a difference in the family's struggle to return back to normal.
According to Teunis van Buuren the only part left standing of the home he had in Agnar Street, Westhill is the garage. "We lost absolutely everything in the fire, even the pots and pans, and with no insurance I started writing to different companies asking them for some assistance. It is difficult to put your pride in your pocket, but I had to," says the father of three.
Van Buuren says he approached many companies for help, and Bradlows in Main Street came to their rescue.
"It is a very difficult and emotional time for us and there are sentimental things we will never get back. Bradlows has helped us to make things a bit more comfortable in our new place and for that we are extremely grateful," says Van Buuren.
His son Teuns said that the most difficult part of the ordeal was finding acceptance. "The emotional knock was the worst to deal with," he says.
According to Bradlows Knysna branch manager Marvin Bruiners, this was the least the company could do to assist the family. "We all need to do our part to rebuild Knysna and assist those affected by this disaster."
The Van Buuren family received a television, microwave, couch and clothing closet from Bradlows.
