KNYSNA NEWS - Students who want to further their studies next year but are struggling with registration money can now apply for the Knysna Municipality Mayoral Bursary Fund.
The municipality is inviting students who are currently studying at tertiary or TVET institutions as well as Grade 12 learners, to apply for financial assistance to further their studies for the 2021 academic year.
Municipal spokesperson Christopher Bezuidenhoudt said the Bursary Fund has financially assisted hundreds of learners since its inception 12-years ago.
“The funding of the learners depends on the municipality’s financial status at the time. Anyone may apply for the Bursary Fund. Initially the main focus was on the poor and disadvantaged, however due to a shortage in many fields like engineering and medicine, we now consider all applications,” said Bezuidenhoudt, who added that the fund covers only registration fees.
