GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Cooperation between crime fighters in the Garden Route has led to the arrest of suspects allegedly involved in a robbery in Knysna.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said Knysna-based security company Allsound reported a robbery in Knysna on 14 September.
"A full description of the getaway vehicle and suspects was immediately circulated among security partners,"
Olivier said, adding that information obtained indicated that the vehicle involved sped off towards the Tsitsikamma Toll Plaza and that it was spotted in Plettenberg Bay. "Plett Security's rapid response unit immediately gave chase."
Olivier said inter-town tactical partners Smhart Security Jeffreys Bay and Humansdorp, highway patrol and rural response units then took up position on the national road.
"Members from the Plett Security rapid response unit, who were receiving advance tactical training in Port Elizabeth, also responded," he said.
The vehicle was eventually stopped near Humansdorp and the suspects apprehended. "Initial investigations led to the discovery of evidence that linked the culprits to the robbery…
The suspects were handed over to police." Olivier said this highlighted the importance of cooperation between various crime-fighting role players.
