The Kirstenbosch garden and nature reserve is not only a declared World Heritage Site, but a pioneer in the preservation of our country's unique and indigenous plant life. Achievements include bringing greater understanding of the ways in which conservation, biodiversity, traditional medicinal plants, green environments and the sheer beauty of nature can enrich the lives of all South Africans.
The public is invited to join in the host of celebrations that have already begun with the launch of a beautifully photographed '100 years, then and now' calendar for 2013. Commemorative events continue throughout the centenary year and include the popular Sunday afternoon, pack a picnic, Old Mutual Summer Sunset concerts.
