PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Two young men were arrested following the murder of an elderly Storms River resident about two weeks ago.
The suspects, both 18 years old, were arrested by police on 5 August. According to police spokesperson Sergeant Majola Nkohli, one of the suspects had been positively linked to the crime scene by forensic experts.
Police also recovered the victim's cellphone and other electronics.
The two were arrested after the body of 89-year-old resident Thomas Love was found in his home on Saturday 31 July. He had several stab wounds to his upper body.
Love's body was found after a tenant, who lived in a flat on the victim's property, contacted police. It is believed that the tenant became worried after Love had not been seen for three days.
When police arrived on the scene they noticed that Love's wallet, laptop, television and other electronics were missing. They also found that one of the rooms' windows had been broken and a kitchen door had been locked with a key hanging on the inside.
The suspects were arrested less than a week later. They are expected to appear in the Storms River Magistrate's Court this week on charges of murder and house robbery.
