GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The man accused of murdering Mawande Kondlo (46), renowned Knysna businessman and owner of Wandu Tours and Stays, in September 2022, was found guilty on all three charges against him in the Knysna Circuit High Court earlier today, Thursday 3 October.
Waydon Bezuidenhout (34) was found guilty of kidnapping, murder and obstructing the administration of justice.
Judge Patric Gamble will deliver sentencing tomorrow.
Bezuidenhout was denied bail on Thursday 8 September 2022 and has been kept in custody in Knysna since.
An off-duty police official found Kondlo's body at Bokkoppie near the Uniondale Road (R339) on 17 January 2022. His hands and legs were bound with a cloth and he had sustained a wound to his head.
Bezuidenhout was arrested in August that year after an extensive and intricate investigation by Knysna detectives in collaboration with Garden Route District Crime Intelligence and a private security company that monitors CCTV cameras in Knysna.
Kondlo was a beloved member of the local tourism industry and a pioneer in the development and growth of township tourism in Knysna.
