NATIONAL NEWS - Education and Training of young adults has become a hot topic especially after the 2018 matric results was released earlier this month. With our matriculants completing their school career the biggest question in many households was where their child will study and whether the parents will be able to afford these studies.
It is not only finance which presents an obstacle but also the fact that many students did not apply in time during 2018 and now they will not be able to go and register in 2019.
Due to the financial implications many a student was not able to continue with their career path in the New Year. South Cape TVET College offers an affordable alternative to the many students in our area who is still at home, not enrolled at any other institutions. South Cape TVET College offers N4 – N6 courses which leads to a National Diploma after concluding your 18 months practical experience.
There are also N1 – N3 technical courses available. Students need to enquire from their campus of choice which of these technical courses are available to them. Most of the technical courses are offered at our Mossel Bay Campus.
These courses are specifically aimed at students who would like to venture into the artisan route. Artisan development is a one of the main focuses of the Department of Higher Education as they are in the midst of the Decade of the Artisan. Dependant on funding available the College will take the student through their CBMT (Curriculum Based Modular Training). Afterwards the student will be placed for 18 months workplace training. A student can then go do their trade test once this has been completed.
In order to ensure the broader communities within the Garden Route and Little Karoo region is assisted with almost all study needs there are also National Certificate Vocational programmes available for students who have passed Grade 9 and wants to complete their studies in a vocational field. There are various programmes available across South Cape TVET College Campuses.
Students can also apply for the DHET and TVET College Bursary Fund. Students may apply for tuition, accommodation or transport. This bursary fund is there to assist students who has a financial need with regards to their studies. We urge students to contact their nearest campus to find out more information with regards to the bursary that is available.
South Cape TVET College is currently busy with registration. Registration closes on the 25th of January 2019. It is however important for students to go to their nearest campus to find out how the registration process works as there will be documentation they will need for their bursary application.
Students must bring a certified copy of their ID, latest pass results and a proof of residence with their name on when going to the campus. Spaces are limited and therefor any interested students must register as soon as possible.
