Artsavingsclub joins hands with Evoking Art Experience

GARDEN ROUTE BUSINESS NEWS - Artsavingsclub is proud to sponsor the Evoking Youth Art Area & Competition at the second Evoking Art Experience on 25 September at Timberlake Village, Wilderness.

Children aged 16 and younger can look forward to a youth art area to paint and express their creative side on the day.

Artworks will be judged by Zeits Museum of Contempary Art Africa's Richard Kilpert, local artist Richard Forbes and exhibition curator, Ingrid Nuss. The winner gets a

R1 000 Artsavingsclub voucher and the winning piece will go straight into the art auction later in the evening.

The Evoking festival celebrates culture and heritage as it showcases the pioneering work of 50 emerging and established artists. The exhibition of contemporary art and the live auction will feature over 100 individual works including paintings, collages, sculptures, photography, mixed media and ceramics.

Nuss believes that the festival offers a fantastic opportunity for homeowners, decorators and art collectors to celebrate art, discover new artists and pick up a bargain.

Artists were briefed to create artworks inspired by traditions handed down from the past, including history, culture, customs, lineage and roots. Nuss chose innovative artists with a strong visual aesthetic, who have fresh and compelling perspectives.

The art auction at the previous Evoking Art Experience was a great success and organisers are hoping for the same or even better this time around.

Highlights include works by artist and art educator at the Zeits Museum of Contemporary Art Africa, Richard Kilpert, and sculptor and print maker Richard Forbes. Nuss will exhibit a feature piece depicting the inception of human cultural heritage - a painting inspired by a tour of the caves in Mossel Bay. Renowned Cape Town graffiti and street artist Marti Lund will also exhibit a series of unique oil paintings.
