BUSINESS NEWS - For the past 45 years, Bevan Engineering has called 19 Progress Road in Knysna Industrial its home, ever since the company made its move to the coastal town after a decade in Johannesburg's West Rand.
The business was started by Bernie Bevan on a smallholding in Honeydew, and in July 1977 Bevan packed up his business and his family to make the move to Knysna with only four labourers in the company's employ.
Robbie Bevan, who started out as a co-partner in the business with his father, has spearheaded Bevan Engineering for the past 38 years since his father retired. During this time the company has seen tremendous growth.
Forty-five years on from the bold move to trade in big city business for small town business, Bevan Engineering employs over 50 local individuals across a variety of divisions on the work premises.
When the move was made to 19 Progress Road, the premises only included two key buildings - the office building, which still houses the offices, and a factory at the back end of the property.
Now, there is a complex array of buildings that produce an incredible range of plastic injection moulded and stainless steel products for both domestic and international markets.
Bevan Engineering has also grown beyond the BG Boat Parts division that got the business off the ground at the very beginning, growing to introduce the Bev-Tent Components side to the business 10 years ago.
A gamble at the time by Robbie's own admission, Bev-Tents Components has grown exponentially in the decade since and has brought a whole new dynamic to the business.
BG Boat Parts and Bev-Tents Components specialise in plastic injection moulding, and have the ability to produce just about anything on pretty much any scale. Whatever it is that you need, there's about a 99% chance Bevan Engineering has you covered. This comes courtesy of the fact that the company still makes its moulds by hand, which enables them to offer personalised and experienced services to their clients.
Bevan Engineering is a company that offers a personal, professional, and experienced approach to finding the solution to your plastic injection moulding needs, whatever they may be.
Find them at 19 Progress Road, Knysna Industrial, or contact them on 044 382 3215.
