RUGBY NEWS - This weekend is going to be a huge one for sports fans with the Rugby World Cup kicking off for seven weeks of glorious global excitement on Friday 8 September.
The opening match is between France and New Zealand while South Africa plays their first match against Scotland on Sunday 10 September.
This year you can catch all the action on weekends at the Boktober Supporter Park at the Diaz Hotel and Resort in Mossel Bay.
Except for Friday 13 October, when no matches are played, the Boktober Supporter Park is open every weekend Friday to Sunday between 8 September and 28 October.
The park offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy all the rugby action, plus delicious food, favourite beer and liquor brands and great entertainment in the most vibrant and festive RWC 2023 leisure environment anywhere in South Africa.
South Africa will be holding its collective breath as our team makes their way through the pool stages, followed by the quarter-finals the weekend of 14 and 15 October, the semi-finals the weekend of 20 and 21 October and the final on Saturday 28 October.
Thirty-six years have passed since the first Rugby World Cup in 1987.
This year brings us the 10th edition, which will surely be the same nail-biting rollercoaster as its nine predecessors, and with South Africa writing the next chapter of its proud RWC story:
- three-time winners (1995, 2007 and 2019);
- twice third-placed (1999 and 2015);
- the only team to have won all the finals they have played in and, most impressively; the only team to have never conceded a try in a final.
