What could anyone possibly think other than that it was quite simply the worst Bok performance since goodness knows when and that if they play like that in the World Cup that starts in just 35 days from now they’ll be flying home to South Africa long before the month of October has run its course.
The more apt question would have gone along the lines of “So what do you think it means?” and “How do they go about setting it right?”
The first question first. No matter how you look at it, the manner in which the Boks slid to defeat at Growthpoint Kings Park amounted to a severe setback to their World Cup preparation. Any confidence gained from the positive parts of the narrow losses to Australia and New Zealand before that disappeared into the nearby Indian Ocean when Argentina opened that big early lead during a period where they made try scoring look so easy.
