PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Local team Plett United RFC pulled off a hard-fought 18-10 win against visitors Formosa Phoenix RFC on Saturday 26 July.
Phoenix, from New Horizons, travelled "next door" to face Plett United in a must-win game. The wet conditions made ball-handling difficult for both teams.
The half-time score was 6-5.
It was a tough competition for both teams with Plett United scoring two tries to Phoenix's one.
Outstanding players were Plett United's winger Buthu Sithukuza and centre Kamva Menze. Phoenix's Bradley Leonard at lock also shone for the visitors.
With only two games left, Phoenix is still in second place on the log with 47 points, while Plett United crept up on them, now only one point behind Phoenix.
Excelsior is top of the league with 50 points.
