SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Pic n Pay Sedgefield Eagle Stars RFC produced a powerful display in front of their home crowd this past Saturday with both the A and B teams overpowering Prince Albert RFC in emphatic fashion.
A teams runs riot
The A team secured a resounding 71-18 victory. The hosts crossed the try line 10 times, showcasing expansive running rugby that left their opponents struggling to contain the pace and creativity.
The backline proved particularly dangerous, with tries coming from across positions 10 to 15 in a well-balanced effort.
Royston Dirk and Brandon Kasayna led the charge with two tries each, while Kasayna’s all-round display earned him the Man of the Match accolade.
Further tries were added by Junaid Ruiters, Diaan Godfrey, Ru-Charn Petersen, Charlton Mentoor, Enzo Stuurman and Morne de Wet.
Mentoor was reliable from the kicking tee, slotting five conversions and a penalty, while Dirk added three conversions and Ruiters contributed one.
B team maintains momentum
The B side continued their impressive run of form, claiming a 49-8 victory to make it back-to-back wins.
From the outset, they asserted physical dominance and controlled proceedings with confidence.
Charlton “Vernie” Solomons and Anvor Gouws each crossed for two tries, with Gouws’ performance earning him Man of the Match honours. Additional tries came from Redenzil Molligan, debutant Juan Kleinhans and Almar Jones.
Captain Chesco Julies delivered a flawless kicking display, converting all seven tries in a composed and experienced performance.
