SEGDEFIELD NEWS - The Pick n Pay Sedgefield Eagle Stars RFC returned from Oudtshoorn last Saturday with two valuable wins after both their A and B teams had defeated Collegians RFC at the Bridgton Sports Grounds.
The A team claimed a convincing 39-27 victory with a strong all-round performance. The Eagle Stars laid the platform through solid forward play before their backs exploited space out wide to score five tries.
Tries were scored by Brandon Kasayna, Adriaan Konstable, Elrich Grootboom, Mzoleli Am and Diaan Godfrey. Konstable also made a significant contribution with the boot, converting four of the five tries and adding two penalties.
The visitors maintained control for much of the match, combining an effective attacking game with resolute defence to limit the Collegians' scoring opportunities. Their travelling supporters were rewarded as the Eagle Stars completed a clean sweep on the day.
Earlier in the day, the B team secured a hard-fought 17-10 victory over their Oudtshoorn counterparts. Brandon Blouw, Brandon Kasayna and Almar Jones crossed the try line for the Eagle Stars, while captain Chesco Julies added a conversion.
Head coach Sheveque Terblanche said the victories marked another positive step forward for the club as it continues to build momentum during the 2026 season. "We are pleased with the commitment, discipline and character displayed by both teams, particularly away from home in a challenging environment. This successful outing at the Bridgton Sports Grounds shows the progress being made throughout the club and provides further confidence heading into the next round of fixtures," said Terblanche.
