KNYSNA SPORT NEWS - For the first time in seven years, Knysna is poised to have a municipal sport council, following the formation of an interim council.
A meeting between local sport representatives, the municipality, and the Eden Sport Council (ESC) was held on Wednesday 17 March in the Knysna council chambers, with various sport codes in Knysna each electing a representative to speak on their behalf during the meeting.
ESC executive committee member Ebrahim America expressed the need for a sport council that is comprised of representatives of sport codes, without any political motives.
He also presented attendees with a draft constitution for the Knysna Municipal Sport Council (KMSC), that has been drawn up by ESC in accordance with constitutions of other municipal sport bodies.
The meeting further saw the establishing of an interim council, made up of the sport representatives in attendance plus municipal representation. Aschin Klein was elected as chairman of the interim council and Lynn Kayster as secretary.
The interim council will now go over the draft constitution and liaise with local clubs to receive feedback on the document.
