PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The Robberg Equestrian Park in Plettenberg Bay will this week showcase the art of show jumping by hosting the Equine-Librium Outdoor Grand Prix.
The event is set to be held from Friday 19 July to Sunday 21 July at the facility along Plett's Airport Road. The Robberg Equestrian Park is the only facility on the Garden Route boasting a fibre show jumping arena. It also has a warm-up area and 192 stables.
The event will see various categories of competition including a mini grand prix and a grand prix. A show jumping grand prix is the highest level of show jumping where the horse jumps a course of 10 to 16 obstacles, with heights of up to 1.6 metres. The coming event will see jump heights of up to 1.4m.
A mini grand prix is a smaller version with fewer obstacles and lower jump heights. This weekend's heights will be up to 1.3m.
The organisers said that they had a passion for the sport and that the upcoming event was just one of many events to showcase the sport and to support local and national equestrian communities.
