Major awards for local karateka
Anuschka Zaayman
KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna local, Anuschka Zaayman (a student at Wessel’s Martial Arts Academy) concluded her 2011 karate year on a high note when she walked away with the gold for kumite (points fighting) and the bronze for kata (patterns) at the Champ of the Champs tournament held in Rustenburg recently.

Anuschka’s sporting achievements in 2011 include:
  • Two gold medals at the SWD Karate trials;
  • The trophy for Best Junior SWD Karate Lady;
  • Bronze medal for Kumite at the National Team Trials;
  • Qualifying for the National All Style Karate team and representing South Africa at the Commonwealth Games in Australia;
  • Two silver medals at the Triangular Championshisp between WP, SWD and Boland;
  • Three gold medals at the Southern Cape Goju championships, and
  • Three gold medals at the AGKF championships.
Anuschka and her coach, sensei Elrie Bosman, will now focus on preparing for her black belt grading in June 2012, while also sharing her knowledge and experience with the up and coming youngsters that will follow in this karate star’s footsteps.
