KNYSNA NEWS - Seven children from the Sidwell Roman School of Ballet recently attended the Cape Town Ballet Eisteddfod at the Civic Centre in Sea Point.
The eisteddfod was held in mid-May, with finals taking place on 19 and 20 May. The pupils presented one trio, one duet and 13 solos alltogether. One was awarded merit (60-69%), eight were awarded honours (70-84%) and six were awarded diploma (85%-100%).
All the diploma winners went into the finals that took place over Friday and Saturday. Five gold medals were awarded in total during the finals.
Cayden Bean was the winner for 15-16 years - demi-character own choice and 15-16 years - classical own choice.
Kiara and Alysa Stead were the winners for 15-16 years - Amateur demi-character duet.
Zélie de Villiers was the winner for 11 years - open own choice and 11 years - demi-character own choice.
The two teachers, Sidwell Roman and Courtney-Drew Meyer, are extremely proud of their pupils for their results, dedication, commitment and eagerness.
