KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's young dance and gymnastics sensation, Aurora Burland, is going from strength to strength.
Representing Uné's Dance Studio, the eight-year-old excelled at the Elements Dance Competition held on 3 May in Camps Bay, Cape Town.
Aurora took home gold medals in acro and hip hop, along with silver plus in contemporary and lyrical, and a silver in character dance.
She also finished second overall in her age group.
Aurora is a gymnast with Performance Gymnastics Club and is currently training for the upcoming Eden Trials.
Last month, the Knysna-Plett Herald reported about her success at the SA Championships of Performing Arts (Sacopa) in Rustenburg where she earned two gold, seven silver and one bronze medal, securing her spot on Team South Africa for the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Los Angeles this July.
Here she will compete against performers from over 30 countries.
Magical fundraiser
To help fund the trip, Aurora's family is hosting a magical fundraiser featuring Marcel the Magician at Knysna Primary School.
There will be three shows: Thursday 30 May at 18:30, and Friday 31 May at 09:00 and 11:30.
Tickets are available on Quicket, and a BackaBuddy campaign has also been launched for those who wish to contribute.
