SPORT NEWS - Eden Triathlon started the 2023-24 season with its first league meeting on Sunday, 29 October, in Great Brak River.
Despite late night rugby celebrations and unpredictable weather, almost eighty dedicated athletes showed up to gauge their fitness level at the beginning of the season and for the 70.3 Ironman on 19 November.
Spring tide, a slight breeze and even a few drops of rain set the stage for exiting racing. Athletes competed over three distances for the super sprint, sprint and standard races.
The super sprint is raced over a 400m swim, 10km bike ride and 2.5km run and here Llewelyn Viljoen and Annabelle McEwan won.
Josua Vorster and Karli Lotter crossed the finish line first after completing the 750m swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run of the sprint race.
The 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run of the standard race were won by Christoff Louw and Melissa van Rensburg.
