KNYSNA NEWS - The Sidwell Roman School of Ballet, led by Courtney-Drew Meyer and Sidwell Roman, delivered a stellar performance at the Nelson Mandela Bay Dance Festival held at the Savoy Theatre Complex last week.
Over three days, 10 talented pupils showcased 39 captivating routines in ballet, contemporary and modern dance.
The school's dedication paid off with an outstanding haul of awards which include 31 gold medals, six high silvers and two silvers.
Standout moments included Gabriella Jonsson's victory in the 9-10 years ballet section and Cayden Bean's triumphs in the 18 years and over boys ballet, the Masters Ballet Championship and the 18 years and over boys modern.
Jaden Morton claimed the Junior Boys Ballet Championship, while Gabriella Jonsson, Chloe Mello, Christina Jonsson, Zélie de Villiers and Cayden Bean excelled in national/character dance categories.
Bean earned further accolades, receiving the prestigious Gwen Mary Wells Award for Most Outstanding Senior Dancer and the Wgruv Experience Award.
Meyer and Roman expressed immense pride in their dancers' commitment and extended thanks to the parents for their support throughout the festival.
