KNYSNA BOWLS NEWS - The first Knysna Bowling Club business bowls league of 2023 has come and gone, wrapping up with the finals on Friday 10 March.
The club's various business leagues are held throughout the year and are ideal for bowlers young and old, male and female, and even people with disabilities.
Even if someone's never bowled before, they're able to fit in perfectly, because at the end of the day the aim of the leagues is to introduce as many people as possible to bowls while still having boatloads of fun.
The league takes place over four weeks, culminating in the final day where everyone comes together and the winners are determined.
While it is the final day, there isn't a final in the traditional sense, as the competition is played in a non-knockout league format where whoever ends top of the log once all games have been played is crowned the winner of the league.

This time around the league was split into two divisions of 10 teams each with 16 companies (including Knysna Bowling Club) entering a team – BUCO, Custom Designs, Cape Island Construction, Kings, Build-Pro, Village Pharmacy, Tile House, Rishis Powers, Seaqual, Sothebys, Knysna Lifestyle Estate, Fechters, DVC Civil Construction, ODS Landscaping and Lintol & Level.
After the final round of matches were played at KBC on Friday 10 March, things were very tight in the B Section of the competition where three three teams were tied on nine points and had to be separated by shot aggregate.
And with a shot aggregate of 128,72%, Fechters were victorious. In second place was KBC Spares (127,27%) and third was the 50 Shades team from Seaqual (123,92%).

While things were close in the A Section, they weren't quite as tight. The Cape Island Construction Titans and Team Leisure (from BUCO) were tied on nine points, with the former settling for third place with a shot aggregate of 117,13% while Team Leisure finished second on a shot aggregate of 125,35%.
There could only be one winner though, and it was a great result for the BUCO teams as not only did they finish second, but first too! The BUCO Titans finished on 12 points with a shot aggregate of 133,01% to emerge victorious.
