KNYSNA NEWS – The annual Knysna Yacht Club Opening Cruise set the scene for a spectacular display of sea-faring craft on Saturday.
A flare fired by Sebastian Cook signalled the start of the sailing season and gave notice to more than 50 big and small yachts to start a sail-by and take a salute from the club Commodore Mike Jacobs.
New Deputy Mayor of Knysna Alberto Marbi and his wife Shirley were guests of honour aboard the VIP catamaran Lara Bella, owned by Neil van Deventer, that led the procession.
Among those participating in the sail/paddle/swim procession were the Knysna Sea Cadets, the canoe polo section, radio-controlled yachts – and swimmers who braved the chilly waters of the Knysna Lagoon.
