GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - In what was the first fully contested season since 2019, the 2023 Knysna-Plettenberg Bay-Sedgefield School Sport (KPSSS) rugby and netball seasons were a raging success.
There were three different age group leagues running concurrently this year, namely U9, U11 and U13. While the season wasn't long by any means, with all of the matches being played throughout August, it was greatly enjoyed by all.
The finals of both rugby and netball leagues were hosted by Plettenberg Bay Primary School on 30 August.
In the netball leagues, Crags Primary School shone with two gold medals to their name.
They reigned victorious in both the U9 and U11 leagues, beating Plett Primary in the final of the former and Knysna Primary in the final of the latter. Knysna Primary got its own in the U13 final though, where they defeated Phamakisani Primary School to win gold.
The rugby leagues were dominated by Knysna Primary, who won two golds by securing wins in the U9 and U13 leagues.
They played against Fraaisig Primary School in both finals, and after titanic battles managed to emerge victorious. In the U11 final the hosts, Plettenberg Bay Primary, were able to give their supporters something to cheer about, as they defeated Sedgefield Primary to win the U11 gold medal.
