One-hundred-and-twenty-eight women golfers stood on the tee boxes at 08:00, ready to play on the magnificently manicured golf course. Shrieks of laughter could be heard as the women enjoyed the camaraderie of fellow golfers.
The competition during the the two-ball better-ball Stableford competition was tight, and the fact that the winning score of 45 points resulted in a count-out between five two-balls bears testament to that.
Knysna Golf Club (KGC) members Margaret Harvey and Rosemary Etellin walked away as winners of the day on a count-out. They each received a beautiful bunch of flowers and R1 000 each in Food Lover's Market vouchers.
In second place, also on 45 points, were KGC members Ypie Kingma and Fran Kirsten, who each received a R900 vouchers. The George Golf Club's Liz Hughes (Ladies captain) and Karen Schoombie each received flowers and an R800 voucher for their third place. The top 10 teams each received flowers and vouchers.
The longest drives also received vouchers and flowers. Kingma smashed her ball the furthest in the silver division. Oudtshoorn Golf Club's Miemie Martiz hit her ball the furthest in the bronze division.
Nearest to the pin winners, who also received flowers and vouchers, were won by Judith Flevill, Eileen Gay, Tanya Lightley and Vanessa Cloete.
KGC Ladies captain KJ Nicholson thanked Wilhelm Hanekom from Food Lovers Market Knysna for their "more than generous" sponsorship. She further thanked Eduan du Plessis for receiving and correlating all the scorecards, Dwyn Callaghan for her help with selling the hamper raffle tickets and to her committee members for their help in making the day a success.
Vanessa Cloete, KGC committee member who was responsible for the table decoration, won the impressive Food Lover's Market food hamper.
