SOUTHERN CAPE NEWS - By only one shot, the Southern Cape women's golf team narrowly missed out playing in the top half of Division A during the Stroke Play part of the recent Pick n Pay South African Women's Inter Provincial Golf Tournament at the Woodmead Course at the Johannesburg Country Club.

As a result, the team was relegated to the B Division, but nevertheless, the players played good golf, loosing their match play games narrowly on the 17th or 18th hole every time and Maggie du Toit scored a hole. Youngsters Margie Pienaar and first time member, Carina Pienaar, also performed extremely well and with the more senior players in the team they will come back next year.

The team, which comprised Sandra Winter (captain), Margie Pienaar, Carina Pienaar, Maggie du Toit, Sonja Bland and Nicole Loesch, thanks its manager Gill Norgab and SCWGA president Ann Johnston for their support, and Golfer's Club for sponsoring the balls.

Both the A and the B divisions of the tournament were won by Gauteng North.
