KNYSNA NEWS - Simola Golf & Country Estate hosted the Southern Cape Nomads on Sunday 11 June for their monthly tournament day.
Sunshine and clear skies were the order of the day with hardly a breeze to play in. The Simola course was looking lush and green courtesy of the rain that the Garden Route had received over the preceding few weeks. The tournament had a turnout of 76 players in the field.
Simola, despite being a tough course to play in wet conditions, turned out some good scores. This month's prizegiving was done by Captain Tjoepie Pretorius and Vice Captain Nic Niemann.
The winners for the day were:
- A Division: 39 Points - Heinrich Frylinck
- B Division: 36 Points - Jacques Matthee
- C Division: 36 Points - Greg Collier-Payne
- Best Playing 4 ball: 127 Points - Dave Meyer; Jacques Theron; Heinrich Frylinck; Peter Leibrandt
- Best Playing Pair: 75 Points - Jacques Matthee; Ettienne Engelbrecht
- Matchbox (Longest day) 18 Points - Braam Els
The Nomads Golf Club plays 12 monthly tournaments a year, and in each region tries to support all the local golf clubs there.
