KNYSNA NEWS - The third instalment in the inaugural Race to Pezula campaign was held last week, on 24 and 25 August, with four new names added to the roster for the finals to come in November.
The series was born of a partnership between Standard Bank and Pezula Championship Course, and is a one-of-a-kind event which comprises a series of four golf tournaments, leading up to the final where 16 players will compete for the ultimate title of Champions of the Race to Pezula.
The four series are being run between June and September, giving participants four chances to qualify for the finals and be crowned champions. At the finals, all of your accommodation, golf and food will be paid for as part of your prize.
Each series is a separate competition made up of a two-day event, but the first day is a 'fun' competition giving golfers a chance to play the course and practice for the main event on day two.
Only the results on the second day qualify participants for the finals, with the two pairings who place first and second in the qualifying competition progressing to the finals held on 18 November.
The format for the main event on day two is a better-ball Stableford, while there is a four-ball alliance on day one. The whole tournament offers wonderful prizes, food and entertainment including the chance to win R100 000 for a hole in one.
"We are delighted to be partnering with Pezula for this illustrious tournament," says Chris Browne, Head of Wealth Management at Standard Bank. "One of our key aims as a sponsor of sport at all levels is to encourage the growth and development of golf in this country, and we believe that supporting tournaments like the Race to Pezula will add to the broader appeal of the game."
According to Quintin Stoltz, Standard Bank's Head of Client Coverage for the Western and Eastern cape provinces, playing a round at Pezula is both a sporting and visual experience.
"The Race to Pezula will give players from all over the country the chance to compete on one of the most spectacular courses on the garden route, and we look forward to hosting our clients at this exciting event," he says.
Pezula Club Captain Liz Keller is overjoyed at the chance to host the Race to Pezula with Standard Bank. "I am so honoured to be partnering with Standard Bank, thereby allowing us to showcase our course and hopefully growing the Race to Pezula into one of the premier amateur tournaments offered in the country."
The tournament is open to any combination of ladies and/or gentlemen. For more information and entry details, visit https://www.pezulagolfestate.com/race-to-pezula/
