PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS – Plett is readying itself for the second annual Bitou Mayoral Golf Day with the focus on "TeeOff4TheYouth".
This follows the success of last year's event which raised more than R100 000 and made a profit of R84 000 for deserving community projects. Raw Africa Boutique Collection will once again be the title sponsor.
The money raised during the day is spent at the discretion of Bitou Mayor Dave Swart. The most deserving project Swart chose last year was building a wheelchair ramp for a 30-year-old man who was dependent on family to get him in and out of the house.
Paul Duverge, managing director of Raw Africa Boutique Collection, said when planning started for this year's event the mayor's office implored them to take part again.
"With our focus being on responsible tourism and the upliftment of our local communities being top of mind, the decision to be a part of this fun-filled event was a no-brainer," said Duverge. The event is a collaborative effort between Raw Africa Boutique Collection, Sky Villa Boutique Hotel and Plettenberg Bay Country Club, and will take place at the Plettenberg Bay Country Club on Friday 2 June.
"We are thrilled to once again join hands with our partners to raise funds that will benefit the youth of Bitou," said Swart. "With the support of businesses like Raw Africa Boutique Collection, we are confident that this year's TeeOff4TheYouth event will be even more successful than the last.
"We are grateful for their commitment to our community and for helping us create opportunities that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our local youth."
The event will include a formal, exclusive VIP dinner with Swart, as well as a charity auction at Sky Villa Boutique Hotel on 1 June. Duverge has called on local businesses to contribute in any way they can and to show support by taking part in the day. "There'll be lots of great prizes up for grabs."
All proceeds, after expenses, from #TeeOff4TheYouth will be allocated to local youth programmes and some local charity organisations. Duverge, who is also the chairperson of Plettenberg Bay Tourism, said the golf day affords the opportunity to highlight the TeeOff4Tourism brand.
