KNYSNA NEWS - For the second time, Safa Eden Region representatives the Bitou Young Pirates Football Club have failed to qualify for promotion to the elite Western Cape ABC Motsepe Provincial League, after falling short in points in the Safa WC Inter-Regional Men's League Playoffs.
The Regional league men's games were held this past weekend at Zwelethemba Stadium in Worcester in the Cape Winelands Region.
The Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg Bay side had been given a second chance to play in the Western Cape ABC Motsepe Provincial League, after Safa Western Cape decided to increase the number of teams in the elite league to 24.
Four teams battled it out for the top spot in the mini playoffs at Zwelethemba Stadium, and inclusion in the Motsepe league.
Ubuntu Spartans
They were Ubuntu Spartans (Central Karoo), Bitou Young Pirates (Eden Region), Langebaan FC (West Coast) and Blackpool (Overberg Region).
"Ubuntu Spartans FC from Beaufort West in Central Karoo Region gained promotion to the Western Cape ABC Motsepe Provincial League for the up-coming 2024/25 season after winning the mini playoffs last weekend in Worcester," Safa said.
Ubuntu Spartans will be joining the other 23 teams that will be campaigning in the Western Cape Provincial League.
The Western Cape ABC Motsepe stream A teams are: Diaz Leeds FC (West Coast Region), Grassy Park United FC (Cape Town Region), Cape Town Spurs (Cape Town Region), FN Rangers FC (Cape Town), CR Vasco Da Gama FC (Cape Town Region), Young Bafana FC (Cape Town Region), Ubuntu FC (Cape Town Region), Zizwe United FC (Cape Town Region), City Kings FC (Cape Town Region), Ikapa Sporting FC (Cape Town Region), Hout Bay United (Cape Town Region) and Junction Rovers (Cape Town Region).
The Western Cape ABC Motsepe stream B teams are: Royal Blues FC (Central Karoo Region), Oriented Birds FC (Eden Region), Maties FC (Cape Winelands Region), Mbekweni Cosmos FC (Cape Winelands Region), Salim United FC (Overberg Region), Infantry School FC (Eden Region), Barcelona FC (Central Karoo Region), Ubuntu Spartans FC (Central Karoo Region), Clarewood JMP FC (Cape Town Region) and Santos FC (Cape Town Region).
