KNYSNA NEWS - Voota FC boosted its title ambitions in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League with two crucial wins over the weekend.
The Knysna side edged Flying Eagles 3-2 in a thrilling encounter on Saturday morning, 11 April, at Extension 23 in Mossel Bay.
They followed it up with a solid 2-0 victory over Sea Birds later in the day, securing a full six points.
Voota now sits third on the log with 39 points from 21 matches, having scored 41 goals. They trail La liga (Khayamnandi FC), placed second on 43 points, while Moonlight FC leads the standings with 49 points.
Head coach Vusi Mthimkhulu said the team's progress is driven by internal competition and belief.
"Players earn their place through performance. There is no favouritism, just competition and love for the game," he said.
He added that recent setbacks, including their loss in the Knysna Local Football Association Easter Tournament final, have motivated the squad.
"The team came prepared and focused. The spirit is high," said Mthimkhulu.
La liga also collected maximum points, beating Paris United 2-1 and receiving a walkover against Simunye FC.
