PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Strikers FC missed a crucial opportunity to move into the top five of the Safa Eden Regional Men's League after going down 4-2 to Fast Eleven at the Lawaaikamp FNB Stadium this past Sunday.
The New Horizons side started strongly, applying early pressure and taking the lead through Wayden Bailey, who finished a well-worked move set up by Elthon Leonard.
However, Fast Eleven responded before halftime, with Zefanias Mabunda equalising to make it 1-1 at the break.
The hosts dominated the second half, with Mawande Msilelwa scoring a brace, including a superb long-range effort, to give Fast Eleven a 3-1 advantage. Strikers fought back when Leonard pulled one goal late in the match, but Mabunda sealed the victory with his second goal to make it 4-2.
Strikers were given a chance to close the gap further after being awarded a penalty, but Leonard missed from the spot.
According to head coach Angelo Augustus, his side failed to convert key chances. "We started well, but we didn't take our opportunities," he said.
The result moves Fast Eleven up to fifth place on 30 points, while Strikers drop to ninth on the log.
