KNYSNA NEWS - The Knysna Local Football Association (KLFA) Domestic League kicked off its first round of fixtures of the year last weekend, with two days of scintillating soccer all over the greater Knysna area.
The first day of soccer action of the new year and decade got under way on Saturday 18 January with four games at Loerie Park in Knysna and four games in Rheenendal. Pine Stars, Ocean Eleven, Hot Stars, and Red Eagles travelled out to Rheenendal while CX Swallows, Young Chiefs, African Eagles, and Flamingo headed into Knysna for their respective battles.
With cold, windy and wet conditions in the area, games got under way at 11:00 and 10:30 respectively. Pine Stars and Ocean Eleven were first up in Rheenendal, wrapping the match up with 2-2 draw, while CX Swallows downed Young Chiefs 2-0 in the day's opening game in Knysna. A further 19 goals were scored in the remaining three Rheenendal games.
The next three games at Loerie Park saw a further 14 goals scored.

The remaining Domestic League teams played at Grassy Park in Sedgefield and again at Loerie Park on the Sunday. Slow Town, African Roots, Two for Joy, and Smuts United played in Sedgefield with FC Rebels, Young Boys, Hot Spurs, and Crossroads locking horns in Knysna.
The opener in Sedgefield came between Slow Town and African Roots, with the latter winning 3-2, while Young Boys swept aside FC Rebels 3-0 in the Knysna opener.
The last three matches in Sedgefield saw a further 25 goals scored, while 10 more were scored in the three games in Knysna.
