KNYSNA SOCCER NEWS - Smuts United continue to hold off a determined Red Eagles outfit in the chase for this season's KLFA Domestic League title, with both sides winning their games on the weekend.
Despite being six points clear of second place at point in the season, a couple of slip-ups from Sedgefield-based log leaders Smuts United have seen that lead slim to only two points over Knysna side Red Eagles who lie in second place waiting on their rivals to make a mistake.
The latest round of Domestic League fixtures came on Saturday and Sunday 7 and 8 March with teams once again playing two games a day (except for Flamingo and Two For Joy who had their second Saturday game moved to Sunday).
On Saturday, Hot Stars and African Eagles got the weekend under way in Rheenendal, while CX Swallows and Two For Joy kicked off proceedings at Loerie Park. Hot Stars and African Eagles battled it out to the final whistle with the game ending at 2-2, while Swallows swept aside Two For Joy 10-2 despite playing with one man less for the majority of the match due to a slight shortage of players.

The next day, FC Rebels and Red Eagles started the day's games in Sedgefield with the latter winning 3-2. Sunday's games would suffer a disappointing start at Loerie Park with the game between Hot Spurs and Smuts United handed to the latter with a 2-0 walkover win. The match between Flamingo and Two For Joy, postponed from Saturday due to inclement weather conditions, brought Flamingo a 5-1 victory.
